Ketogenic nutrition, characterized by a low-carbohydrate, high-fat, and protein-rich low-carb diet, offers numerous health benefits, particularly when avoiding animal proteins. Many of you may be wondering how it's possible to maintain such a diet, but in this article, we'll explore some interesting aspects.
A plant-based and whole-food ketogenic diet, coupled with gluten-free options, not only aids in weight loss but also enhances mental clarity. Weight loss is accompanied by an evolution of consciousness. Furthermore, it's excellent for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or Multiple Sclerosis (MS), as well as for diabetics and cancer patients, serving as a preventive measure.
What is Keto?
Normally, the body continuously metabolizes carbohydrates into glucose to maintain blood sugar levels and especially to supply the brain. When carbohydrates are scarce, the body instead taps into its fat stores and converts them into ketones in the liver, which then meet the body's energy needs - similar to fasting. In this state, the brain and heart even function 25% better, as discovered by US neurologist David Perlmutter. With a low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet, the body is essentially in a fasting state - thus, it can force the body to burn fat.
A New Perspective (excerpt from Peace Food - Keto Cure by Dr. Rüdiger Dahlke)
"The death sits in the intestine" - Austrian doctor F.X. Mayr knew this a long time ago, as the founder of the eponymous cure. This is increasingly confirmed by science.
The restoration of the intestines is best achieved through conscious fasting and a subsequent transition to a vegetarian or vegan, plant-based and whole-food diet. The keto cure goes a step further and is an additional opportunity for both the sick and the healthy to positively influence their health through nutrition.
Researchers at Trinity College Dublin discovered that some cells of the immune system, once deprived of glucose, stimulate the immune system. These so-called dendritic cells are part of our immune system that keeps an eye out for signs of danger: the alertness of the immune system regarding dangers increases when there is little or no glucose circulating.
Once these dendritic cells no longer receive glucose, they activate the T-lymphocytes of the immune system. These are the crucial cells that are missing in AIDS. They work on the front lines against infections and tumors. This means that reducing glucose and ultimately carbohydrates can help minimize cancer and all inflammatory processes. This applies not only to joint and tonsillitis but also to heart problems such as heart attacks and ultimately all arteriosclerotic symptoms, as inflammatory processes are always involved. It also applies at least to some types of cancer, where viral involvement, for example in cervical cancer, is now proven.
David Finlay, head of the research group at Trinity College, says: "It becomes clear that glucose is an important signaling molecule in the immune system and that cells that have access to glucose behave completely differently than those that lack it."
Some of the key sentences from this study: Reducing carbohydrates from bread and pasta could better equip our immune system to fight diseases. In some cases, simple sugars can hinder the immune system's work and thus promote disease.

Keto - a Diet that can Prevent and Heal
The extent of carbohydrate reduction is naturally crucial to individual situations. In a cancer diet, carbohydrates should be even more rigorously eliminated, and grains should be largely avoided. The lupine is here a kind of lifesaver. For neurodegenerative conditions, special attention should be paid to gluten- or ATI-free diets and plenty of good fats as brain food.
A fitness lifestyle with muscle building, on the other hand, requires less fat and more protein. Here, lupine becomes more important than coconut oil. For a keto cure carried out for general health reasons, less strictness is naturally necessary, and more sweet fruits and naturally more grains are allowed.
But even with predominantly strict ketogenic diets, there is little against whole carbohydrates from organic vegetables. Their share is low in most vegetable varieties anyway, and most vegetables have a low glycemic index. But of course, everything speaks against refined carbohydrates and modern grains in every dietary form. Their gluten, which is now up to 40% more present in modern wheat than in the original varieties, literally glues us together, just like dairy products slime.
Good fats and oils form the basis in all variants of the keto cure. It is important to ensure a balanced ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids so that our brain always receives the best fat for food and self-regeneration. (Sunflower oil and thistle oil should be avoided, and coconut oil is highly recommended.)
Good proteins like those from legumes, especially blue sweet lupine, are the second pillar of the keto cure. Otherwise, it is a plant-based whole-food diet with plenty of vegetables and little but good, sun-ripened fruit. Gluten-free grains and pseudocereals such as millet, rice, quinoa, amaranth, and the wonderful flowering plant buckwheat, as well as low-gluten original grains such as kamut, einkorn, and emmer, are allowed in moderation.
For people who want to lose weight, this is a great opportunity. For cancer patients and those with neurodegenerative diseases, ketogenesis is just as essential as plant-based whole-food, and for the latter, gluten-free diets as well.
